The House of Learning Ethos:
Why We Stand Out
At our school, we cultivate an environment where every child can thrive, explore, and grow naturally and joyfully. What makes us unique is our innovative approach to learning and development, highlighted by our engaging classroom mascots, a strong commitment to sustainability, and a deep connection with the natural world.
Classroom Mascots
Each classroom features a special mascot that is more than just a playful character. These mascots are thoughtfully designed to support various aspects of a child’s development, including social skills and emotional well-being. They provide comfort, encouragement, and a sense of belonging, making learning a fun and memorable experience.
No Food Waste Commitment
We are committed to being a no-food waste setting. We are mindful of our resource use, avoiding food in our messy play trays. Instead, we encourage exploration through natural materials like wood, stone, shells, water, grass, and leaves. This approach not only promotes sustainability but also enriches the sensory experiences crucial for young children's development.
In-the-Moment Planning
Our planning and observation methods are based on "In-the-Moment Planning," where we focus on the present, responding to each child’s interests and needs as they arise. By being attuned to children’s immediate experiences, we create a learning environment that is dynamic, responsive, and truly child-centered. We believe that children learn best when they are happy and engaged, so we adapt our plans to align with their interests.
At our school, we are dedicated to fostering a love for learning in a nurturing environment where every child can explore, grow, and develop a lifelong passion for discovery.
What Sets Us Apart from Other Settings?
At our setting, we don’t just teach—we inspire. We create opportunities for every child to explore their potential, embrace their creativity, and embark on a lifelong learning journey.
Our Unique Approach to Learning & Development
Creativity is at the core of everything we do, providing a foundation for an enriching and holistic educational experience. We believe in instilling a love for learning from the very beginning, cultivating excellence in every aspect of our curriculum.
Creative & Dynamic
Physical Development
We offer more than traditional physical education by incorporating specialized classes taught by professionals in ballet, gymnastics, and karate. These activities not only enhance physical strength and coordination but also instill discipline, focus, and confidence in our students.
A Love for Literacy
from the Start
Literacy is central to our educational philosophy, and we introduce it early on, starting in the toddler class. Our youngest learners are immersed in a rich literary environment, exploring language and stories that spark imagination and curiosity, laying the groundwork for a lifelong love of reading and learning.
Ensuring Safety
We strictly adhere to the guidelines of KHDA (Knowledge and Human Development Authority) and DHA (Dubai Health Authority), as well as adopted policies from the UK. Our setting follows rigorous health and safety protocols, including strict hygiene and sickness policies.
All our teachers and staff are first aid trained, and we have regular visits from trusted doctors and dentists. Additionally, our staff are thoroughly trained in safeguarding, with our manager taking a proactive role in ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone in our setting.
An Environment for Excellence
We are committed to creating a setting where excellence is the norm. Our approach encourages even our youngest students to develop an early enthusiasm for knowledge and discovery. You might see our toddlers engaged in imaginative activities, such as walking around with class-made elephant ears or participating in poetry beyond the usual nursery rhymes. These creative experiences are designed to stimulate their senses, expand their understanding, and ignite their imaginations.
Recruitment of Staff
At the House of Learning, we follow stringent recruitment policies aligned with KHDA (Knowledge and Human Development Authority) guidelines. All our staff members are highly qualified and receive specialized training tailored to our setting. Furthermore, each staff member completes sixty hours of professional development annually. We are committed to creating an environment where our staff feel valued and respected, which fosters their dedication to providing the best service to our families.
We also collaborate with a diverse range of professionals outside our setting, including those involved in our Arts program, language programs, and special needs support team. Each professional is carefully selected by our manager, ensuring they are experts in their field and thoroughly vetted.
